Alive to God

June 22, 2008 @ 6:26 am

Prior to leaving for the DR Congo I agreed to serve as presider for the service today. I’m not sure what I was thinking, as I was going to be gone the majority of the time between when I was asked and this service.

Prior to leaving I had a draft of the service out and as I traveled I often found myself working on it and revising it. Little things mostly, but felt bad that I could not talk with the people participating in active named roles and update them on the status, or find people for various aspects. Thus upon my return it was a rush to finish, get things to people and now I think, I hope the service will go well, but I am sure I am forgetting something…

However the point of this is not that it is the theme  “Alive to God.”  An interesting theme, a powerful possibility for worship, for sermon, and for reflection. I think that those three words perhaps connect to the reflection, thinking, reading, listening, and writing that I have been doing the past few days as I struggled with and rejoiced in various things. Friday night it was such a joy to see and read the cardinal within the bright green of  a sunlit tree, blue sky and Temple beyond, as I prayed, read scripture, reflected upon scripture, and wrote prayer…

Life is amazing, and it is good to know that to the Eternal One I am alive, and so is all of creation. May one day we be truly restored and made whole once again. let us go forth and seek the peaceable Kingdom, aye even Zion.

Peace,
