Daily Prayer for Peace and Friday Prayer for Peace

October 21, 2007 @ 2:55 pm

Have you ever heard of the Daily Prayer for Peace? If you’re a member of Community of Christ there is a good chance you have, and if you have ever been here before you probably have as well since there is a link over there on the right. For those who don’t know this is a short worship service held each day in the sanctuary of the Independence Temple, part of Community of Christ International Headquarters complex in independence, MO. It was started in 1993 with the completion of the Independence Temple and is held each day of the year at 1pm CDT/CST.

The real question though is have you ever heard of the “Friday Prayer for Peace?” If you haven’t you’re not alone, the majority of the people on this planet haven’t. Why? Well, perhaps because Friday 26 October will be the first expression of the “Friday Prayer for Peace.”

So, you might ask, and rightly so, what is the “Friday Prayer for Peace?”

Essentially it is the Daily Prayer for Peace service but held at Noon EDT/EST on Fridays in the Reflection Chapel of the Community of Christ Spiritual Formation Center at the Kirtland Temple. there are a few alternations, such as no organ playing, but the prayers and base format is the same. I am looking forward to the start of this new aspect of the ministry of the Kirtland Portion of the Temple. who knows what may be next.

Peace,
