How did I miss it?

March 31, 2007 @ 6:59 am

Sunday evening the prophet-president of Community of Christ, Steve Vezey, presented words of counsel to the church. At that time he did not seek its inclusion in our canon of scripture. However, after prayer, reflection, and the testimonies and communications he received from throughout the church, he would later submit it to the conference for that purpose.

Yesterday at approximately 4:31pm CDT the World Conference voted to approve it as inspired counsel and inclusion in the Doctrine and Covenants.

I remember paying extremely close attention on Sunday as he spoke, and I read over and reflected on it throughout the week. I listened to it paragraph by paragraph as it was read in the Mass Meeting of the Aaronic Priesthood, and yet some how it was not until the entire conference was going through it paragraph by paragraph that the following sentence stood out and connected with my own writings:

…. The restoring of persons to healthy or righteous relationships with God, others, themselves, and the earth is at the heart of the purpose of your journey as a people of faith.

Doctrine and Covenants 163:2b

Now look at the first part of my “ultimate goal” as I presented it on the 14th:

Help heal and restore broken and unhealthy relationships. (Including such relationships as between self and self, self and other, self and community, self and humanity, self and creation, self and Creating One, community and creation, community and Creating One…. and all other relationships)

So it seems my “goal” is perhaps on track…

Future reflections to come on this document, but I wanted to at least get this out before I forgot…

Peace,
