Community of Christ World Conference 2007 is almost here. With each passing day I get just a tad bit more excited as I prepare to worship, fellowship, legislate and more with my sisters and brothers from around the globe. This year, directly following conference will be a International Young Adult Event (IYAE), this too I am looking forward to.
The theme for World Conference is: Share Christ, Share Peace
The Theme for IYAE is: We are many, We are One
Yesterday I reviewed the sessions for the IYAE, and it will be hard to choose between the different offerings for the breakout sessions, as most of them sound interesting to me.
Over the next several weeks I will be ramping up my personal preparation for both of these events. I have already started, but as the days draw closer my preparations will increase. Specifically additional daily preparation will start on 21 Feb, Ash Wednesday. Why then? Well, that is the first day of the structured daily preparation exercises. Along with them there is additional resources for Congregational worship services for each Sunday of lent prior to Conference. Looking over them briefly I found it interesting that the worship service I planed for my Worship and Music class, included the prayers from one of these Sundays. My service was also set during this time of increased preparation for conference, though not the same day as the official resources used these prayers, not used in the same way… but still.
If you are a member of Community of Christ I encourage you to join with me and many of your brothers and sisters around the globe in the next few weeks in preparation for this event that is a significant part of our communal lives. If you are not a member of Community of Christ, feel free to keep us in your thoughts and or prayers. If you happen to be in Independence MO during Community of Christ’s World Conference, feel free to stop by and worship and fellowship with us.
Well I need to go eat,
(I’ll try and remember to come back and place links to the resources and events mentioned here, until then you can find them by looking around http://CofChrist.org)
Peace to one and all,
