The time is near. . .

November 14, 2006 @ 7:25 pm

13 February 2005 was the last time I preached before becoming ill. I am now scheduled to give my first sermon post-illness on 17 December 2006.

That February sermon is what I consider my 12th. It was the only sermon I gave in 2005, a second had to be canceled due to my health. In 2004 I spoke at three different congregations, each in a different state. The 2005 came, and the paced slowed to a stop as I became ill.

Now, as I look forward to 17 December, I wonder: “Am I ready?” After what will be about 22 months of not preaching, will I still be able to? Will I be open to the moving of the Spirit? Will, by the Grace of the Almighty One, I be able to express to this congregation some aspect of the Good News which is most clearly expressed in and through the life, ministry, death, resurrection, and continuing presence of the Living Christ? My hope is that I will, and I know it will be in my prayers between now and then.

As I will be preaching on the 17th I will probably do my second theme and scriptures reflection of December on some of the lectionary passages for that Sunday.
