Sky through Water

June 12, 2006 @ 12:09 pm

Friday and Saturday my niece was here visiting. Friday night and Saturday morning we played Monopoly. I tried to go for a short game, but she wanted a full length game. We didn’t finish the game as we took a break and never came back to it. Saturday afternoon my niece, mom, the dog, and I went into town to get gas and drop off and mail some invitations to my sister’s graduation, and then headed out to the Falls. In part this was due to my niece saying, “Silver Falls or Lyle Falls!” after my mom mentioned the possibility and prior to me agreeing.

Once we arrived at Silver Falls my mom and the dog stayed up in the day use area, walked and painted, while my niece and I took off on the Canyon Trail. I took a few pictures along our journey, a few turned out okay, a few others might be after I do some editing. . . .

As we went behind South Falls, stopped and looked at the falling water:

I remembered the first time she and I came to the falls together. It was during Christmas break of my first year of college, she was 4, and I had to cover her ears as we went under the water fall and quickly go through as the noise was too much for her. I also had to carry her part of the way that time. I’m glad neither was true this time around. Instead we both traveled on our own two feet. We stopped at times as she saw things that interested her, and or I wanted to try and photograph. Due to her choice, and also due to time, we took the Winter Falls loop rather than going all the way to North Falls. It was  nice to spend some time with my niece, and it was a wonderful outing. A few of the pictures I took I have resized and uploaded to Flickr at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickelsax/

Peace,
