My dad and I took off for Seattle this morning as I had my readmissions interview at the School of Theology and Ministry (STM) at Seattle University (Seattle U) today. Traffic was decent all the way up, allowing us to make very good time and get there at ten something. We drove around a bit and then headed down to the waterfront. We walked around a bit to kill time and I took a few pictures, then ate before heading up to Seattle U.
Prior to my meeting I walked around a bit with the camera and took a few pictures of the Chapel of St. Ignatius, of Hunthausen Hall, (the home of STM), and the green area across from it. My interview went okay and also included a brief advising session. At the end of which my advisor came and said hi. She and the Assistant Dean (who is becoming the Dean) were both happy to see me looking healthy and doing well. Both look forward to the prospect of having me back in the fall. After the meeting we headed back home, conditions were well and even hitting Portland right before five we got home just after six.
If I end up returning this fall I will be going into the MAPS program rather than M.Div. By going this route I will have all but one elective finished of the required coursework at the end of the 06-07 year. The Summer 07 I could take a class, and just do an internship during the remainder of 07-08. If I decided near the end of 06-07 that I wanted to peruse the M. Div I can always transfer back into the program at that time. I think that if I return to STM that this might just be the best path to persue. Only time will tell.
Prior to my appointment as I waited in the reception area I looked over the pamphlets they had out. One of the pamphlets contained the demographics of the school from last year. Part of the breakdown is by faith traditions. This in turn is dived into two sections the first those traditions which sit on the board, and other traditions. Community of Christ via the Greater Pacific Northwest USA Mission Center (GPNW), is one of those participating traditions. It was nice to see in this list “Community of Christ: 1” Maybe in part as I know that that “1” is none other than me. I think that if I do go back and graduate from STM I will be the fourth Community of Christ member to do so since the school was formed, and I believe the first male member of Community of Christ. That is one nice thing about STM is that they are welcoming and embrace Community of Christ’s presence and want to have Community of Christ represented in the student body.
On a slightly different note, I am in the process of working on a redesign of my mother’s website. For right now the system I am using for it is not the best suited, but is the content management system I have the most experience with. If anyone reading this knows of a good (and free of cost) CMS that is better suited please let me know The current system works, but as it isn’t designed for this use I would eventually prefer a different system, or I guess I could eventually try and modify the system myself to make it function better. . . . The new design, in its current state, is now live. There are photos to be added, but I must take them first, and there are still a few tweaks to the layout, but it is better than it once was. If you have any ideas, suggestions, please let me know.. Oh the site is MoonFrogSoaps.com
(Some photographs that I took today, if any turned out okay, will be available shortly at Flikr.com)
