The school bond measure seems to have passed, and had majority turnout. As I have said before, I am for the education portion, but not the extra padding. Nor am I for the deceptive tactics that they used during their campaign, nor the fact they have been pushing it at us for several years now.
I am also worried w this extra tax will affect my parents, but the school district wanted the money even if many can not afford it, or barely afford it.
From last night’s unofficial results:
53.3% turnout (241.5 votes casted more than needed to achieve majority)
2018 Yea votes (51.73%, 137 votes more than needed)
There where two under votes also
And thus 27.572% of the registered voters of this district have decided to tax themselves and in voting yes have done so and also taxed the 25.7% that did not want to get taxed, and the 46.7% of the district that for what ever reason did not vote / get their ballots in on time.
I wish everyone, or at least almost everyone had voted. Even if they had voted in favor of the measure I would be happy. But to know that a minority of the voters passed this measure is sad. I wonder what percentage of 3418 registered voters who did not vote are wishing they had, and which are glad that it turned out the way it did. Maybe it will encurage some of them to vote in every election, or at least most ellections from now on…
Ah the wonders of democracy.
Peace,
(I have one other problem with the bond that I do not believe I have stated before. The life of the bond is… 21years, and with the new buildings the district expects to be at 100% capacity once again in…. 15-20 years, 1-6 years before they new buildings are fully payed for.)
