Don’t move pews by yourself

December 21, 2004 @ 9:47 pm

This is attempt number two.. my little spell check thing ate my last one by closing the window somehow on me.
So I am going to be brief this time around. I have been having back problems the past few days. (muscle spasms, general pain, and so on). This morning I headed into town to work on some things I still need to for the Christmas Eve Service. Well I got o the church, went in and decided to try and mark where the pews were with tape, as I wanted to move them to create a different atmosphere for this sanctuary setting. I was going to come back on Thursday to do the physical setup of the sanctuary, but well decided to do that rather than to work on that which I was going to. Moving 16 pews around a room by oneself is not the best thing to do. Now while I was working on it I was wishing Salem had chairs rather than pews, as chairs are designed to be moved around, pews not so much, and individually they are lighter, though they can be just as wearing on the body as pews when moving them. After the sanctuary was set up I went to lunch, and part way through my back started to hurt and spasm, I barley made it through and then headed back to the church, took some advil, and did some adjustments to parts of the room… eventual the Advil helped and back felt a bit better, but now is back to a lot of pain, but in about 20 minutes I am good for another dose.

So what did I learn “Do not move a bunch of pews by oneself, especially when one is all ready in pain” will I do it again, sure… I’ve done it with chairs and pews in the past, and will again in the future I am sure, though what I will not do is carry a large heavy laser printer a long distance (across a college campus) like I did for work during my first year of undergrad…. Peace be with all
